At least on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday nights, the noise from the much amplified music in the bar is so excruciating that one cannot sleep, and the loud noise goes on until after midnight. I don't know about the other nights of the week. Otherwise, there is nothing wrong with this hostel.
Hey there, We're sorry the noise from the bar disturbed your sleep! St Christopher's is always advertised as a party hostel as all of our sites are joined to Belushi's. Unfortunately since the hostel and bar are in the same bed it is inevitable for the sound to travel a little. Next time make sure to pick up some ear plugs from reception! Thanks for your review, St Christopher's Hammersmith reception

The only problem with this hostel, and it is a BIG, BIG one, is each night the bar fills up with a loud, rowdy crowd, and the music in the bar is played at a volume way above the decibel level of the noise the bar crowd is making. The EXTREMELY loud noise is continuous and permeates the entire hostel so that it is almost impossible to sleep until after around 1 am when the bar apparently closes.
Thank you for your review. We do have a great bar downstairs that closes at Midnight on week days and 2am on weekends. Next time feel free to come down to ask for some free earplugs or just join in and take advantage of the deals we offer :). Safe travels!

What I really like about this hostel is there is no bar and it is in a quiet neighbourhood, so its quiet and peaceful. Also, lots of stores and restaurants within short walking distance, and very close to Underground station.

The only major complaints I have about this hostel are that it is a little cramped and the so-called lockers are not very secure.

The only drawback about this hostel is it is a little distant from the center of things in Aberdeen. But otherwise it is superb! On an overall scale of 1 to 10 it is a 12!

The staff was very nice, the facilities are rather shabby but clean, there are no lockers. Otherwise this hostel is adequate.

Everything about this hostel is above average except that it is immediately adjacent to one of the busiest tourist streets in Edinburgh. Edinburgh has a great deal of night life and the resulting noise permeates the hostel to some extent throughout the night. Despite this, I was able to get enough sleep each night and will stay at this hostel again. An aspect that counterbalances the noise from the street is this hostel does not have a bar or restaurant and so avoids those sources of noise.
Hi there, thank you for the kind words - we're glad you had a great stay here at our wee hostel. Sorry for the noise at night time - unfortunately it sometimes can get a bit loud on right Edinburgh's Royal Mile. We're looking forward to having you back here!

I don't know about other nights, but on Fri., Sat., and Sun. nights there were live bands and other sources of music playing in the bar at such a high level of noise that it was difficult for me to sleep and I was in a room 2 floors up from the bar. The noise went on until 1 or 2 am. It is difficult to read a book or do laptop work because there basically are no sitting rooms and the excruciating noise from the bar permeates the entire hostel.
Thanks for taking the time to leave a review. We love getting all sorts of feedback so that we can work towards improving our guests experiences. We hope you enjoyed your time in London and wish you a safe and happy journey home

Staff is extremely nice and friendly. Supermarket, lots of restaurants, lots of stores, and Underground station within 10-minute or less walk. I have stayed in this hostel three times now and for some reason it seems to attract the nicest guests also!
Thank you for coming back and staying with us again! We hope to see you the next time you back over the pond and safe onward travels from all of us here! :)

The showers are about the size of a telephone booth, which means everything you take with you to the shower gets wet. For the room I stayed in, on some nights people were checking in for the first time around midnight and later. When they came into the room they felt justified in turning on the lights until they could get their bed arranged, which interrupted my sleep several times. Otherwise, everything about this hostel is superb.
Hello there, thank you for taking the time to share your feedback after your recent stay with us. It is unfortunate that other people in your dorm turned on the lights late at night, in general all our guests are respectful of others, but from time to time this can happen in dormitories.

This is a wonderful hostel with a wonderful staff, and very quiet (no bar and in a quiet neighbourhood)! The only drawback is there are no secure lockers available. It is a 20-minute walk to the edge of all the exciting things of Canterbury.
Thank you very much for the lovely rating and comments. Enjoy your travels. Kind regards

My only objection to this hostel is the hallways from all the rooms converge to a single hallway and then one has to go through two doors that open inward only to exit the building. If there is ever a fire, causing a stampede of people leaving the building, it may create a crush at these two doors so that it will be impossible to open them and get out.
Hi there, we appreciate your concern and I am glad you have provided us with some feedback. All Staff are trained in handling emergency procedures in a calm and collective manner and there are different exits for everyone to calmly exit the building. we hope you enjoyed you stay and hope to see you again soon. The team at St Christopher's Inn

In the overall scheme of things these are minor problems, but there's no place in the hostel where one can really sit down and do laptop work or read a book. The bar/restaurant area is large but is almost always packed full of people in the evenings and is extremely noisy. There's a great deal of noise from the street out front until late into the night, and sporadically all night long.
Hello! Thank you for leaving us a review, we appreciate your feedback. All the best and safe travels, St. Christopher's Inn Staff

This is a nice hostel in itself, but a big extra is there are lots of good ethnic restaurants and shops of all kinds within minutes walk. There is no bar or restaurant associated with this hostel, which I like very much because it is quiet.

On Friday, Saturday, and Sunday nights until about 12:30 the following morning the noise from the bar is extremely loud and continuous and permeated the dorm room I was in as if were actually attempting to sleep in the bar. As a result, I was unable to sleep during those hours.
Hello thank you for your feedback. We are loud on a Friday and Saturday night as we are a rocking hostel that likes to party. We do provide free earplugs though for any guests who don't feel up for partying. Safe travels.

This is not the fault of the hostel, but there was a great deal of very loud noise just outside the hostel into the wee hours of the morning, each night and morning. The city of Oxford needs a noise ordinance.
Thank you for staying with us. Unfortunately there is a bit of noise as we are in the city center. We do offer ear plugs for all guests. If you are in need in future please ask at the reception and they will be happy to help. We hope to see you in the future.

The only problem I have with this hostel, and it is a small one, is there are two common areas, each of which, by itself, is too small. One is smoking and one is nonsmoking. I cannot stand to be around cigarette smoke, and so could not use the smoking common area. There is insufficient space in the nonsmoking common area for the number of people. For me, a much better arrangement would be to ban smoking throughout the hostel so that both common areas can be used by all.

This is a 5-star hostel! Even though it costs a little more than most hostels, the extra expense is well worth it.

The only objection I have about this hostel is the routes to and from the rooms are rather long, narrow passageways and hallways, and several of the doors one has to go through open INWARDS only. If there is a fire, it will be difficult to evacuate the building quickly, if at all.
Hi there, thank you for taking the time to leave us a review. Guest safety is our top priority, and we have many fire exits to be able to exit the building in the event of an emergency, and our staff are trained regularly on how to react in emergencies, ensuring that all guests would be able to leave the building swiftly and safely. Safe travels, the St. Christopher's Greenwich team.

The neighbourhood is very nice and lots of stores and restaurants close by. The location is somewhat remote from central London, but if its location is where you need to be, I highly recommend it. One aspect that makes it very convenient is it has a clothes washer and dryer.
Thank you for your review and for choosing to stay at the Badger! We are pleased you had a good stay and would recommend us!

The Horse & Stables is very clean and the room I stayed in had more room than most hostel rooms. The only problem is the hallways to the rooms are somewhat of a maze and some of the doors only open inward so that if there is a fire it may be difficult to get out.

An item this hostel has that most don't, that is very convenient, is washing machines and dryers. I didn't have to lug my laundry across town to wash it.
