Finca Escalante is located between San Jose downtown and the popular university area of San Pedro. We are close enough to the city where all the bus stations to the outskirts of the country are located and far enough so you can have a good night's sleep.
We offer several types of accommodation for different sorts of guests and travelers. In this sense we have private rooms for those people looking for a more relaxing stay, meanwhile for those venturesome travelers we have dorms fully equipped. In addition, we have the following services: computers with internet connection and Wi-Fi, walking tours through the city, parking, linen and towels, printing, coffee and tea, lockers and locks, luggage storage, tour booking and information desk, and local calls.

I mean, I was taken to my dorm and the door of the room was literally unhinged and just standing there in the corridor.
I mentioned to the receptionist that wouldn’t it be better if the door actually was in the frame and could close ? he just laughed it off saying he hadn’t noticed…
Keep in mind this dorm is right next to the garden and the breakfast area meaning you hear everything and it doesn’t feel private at all.
Honestly not great, cleanliness was average, I would not return.

Hostel is located in a beautiful historical building but I didn’t feel safe with the fact that that room had no key (nothing happened but still…). Also clogged toilet for a while. The receptionist was super nice and welcoming, remaining staff was ok and prefer to avoid you.
Location is perfect l, right in the heart of Escalante!
It’s a hostel and there was no activities happening that could help the residents to mingle. That’s a shame… I love the hostel energy and I didn’t feel it
