La Fortuna is named after how lucky the town was when it wasn’t destroyed by the volcano's eruption back in the 60s. This Selina is perfect to reconnect with yourself and to explore the many wonders this area has to offer. With a volcano view, a river crossing the property and right located right in the middle of town you will definitely feel you are lucky too. With yoga lessons, horseback riding, paddle boarding in the lake, hiking, hot springs, canopy and many other adventures La Fortuna is definitively the place to discover your wildest side. And at night you can enjoy some of the best events in town at our playground, live music, happy hour and much more.
We are located right in the center of La Fortuna, which is is the name of a district and a small city located in San Carlos, in the province of Alajuela. We are located in front of the Parque de La Fortuna and a couple of minutes away walking from the bus stop. Nevertheless, the most relevant attractions of La Frotuna must be reached from our facilities by car, taxi or public transport. In this sense, some of the finest attractions of our location are: Parque Nacional Volcán Arenal and Reserva Ecológica Catarata Río Fortuna.
We offer diverse accommodation options oriented in diverse kind of guests and travellers. We offer dorms and tent options for those venturesome travellers who are seeking to live new adventures, meanwhile we offer a more private option for those guests who are looking for quietness and tranquility. Selina La Fortuna is such a cool hostel! A bit expensive but actually there are more services than in other hostels and the place is beautiful. There is a river just next to the tepees where we stayed. We had a yoga lesson and the teacher was super professional, best yoga lesson ever! The tepee is super confortable. I loved also the hot showers open air and the restaurant/pub! Highly recommended!

The staff was very nice but unfortunately I needed to check out early due to a foul mouldy smell in my room which was making me sick. I'd also note the private room I payed was so small I couldn't even place my luggage anywhere properly. This was a waste of money since I checked out so early due to these issues, and I would prefer if their customer service reaches out to me for a refund for my stay - as I left due to unsanitary conditions.

The outside space of the hostel was really nice. Big outside area and the pool is clean. The downside is the size of the rooms. There is no where to store bags. They have lockers above the beds which makes it claustrophobic. They have obviously shoved 6 beds in a private room - the beds were even blocking the windows so there was no natural light.
You pay more for a Selina but I would expect a better room for the price I paid. Also kitchen was tiny.
