Welcome to Roots Family!
Our small, bamboo and wooden made Hostel create a feeling of home and good vibes. Easy and chill out environment with the Caribbean Touch.
Be a Part of the Family and meet open minded travelers from allover the world. Just feel the love in our space! Pura Vida.
Roots is built in an open, typical carribean style and located at the heart of Puerto Viejo, only 100 meters from 'Parquecitos' Beach, 5 minutes walk for bars and restaurants and 300 m from the Bus Station.
The Beds in the Tree House Dorm provide bamboo and cane features as own locker (space enough for suitcases), lamp, outlet and a lot privacy!
The house has different common areas to enjoy and gather and have a good time while meeting new people. We have a common kitchen for use with all the implements and filtered Water. All beds have a mosqutio net.
We have the cutest cats and our Dog Jamie loves to give kisses.
Roots Family Policies and Conditions:
check in: 15:00 - 19:00
Please let us know when you arrive after 7pm to assure someone is around.
check-out: before 11:00
Check-outs after 11.00 will be charged 50% of daily Rate (Roots can store your bags if you leave the same day or come back to us with another reservation. We assume no liability for your bags.
Taxes not included - 13.00%
Payment in cash on your arrivaldate - Dollers or Colones
Cancellation Policy
Full Charge If cancelled within 1 days of arrival
30% of Full Stay - If cancelled within 2 days of arrival
No Charge - If cancelled within 3 days of arrival
The minimum age for check-in is 16
No private parking available. Public parking space around the Hostel - Roots family does not take legal responsibility for damage or theft.
Guests must be quiet between 22:00 and 07:00
Common kitchen is usable between 07:00 and 22:00
Pets are not allowed
Smoking is not allowed
Towels included in the private rooms - For the Dorm $3 per towel for use during your stay
We charge $3 in case of losing a key
we project release from any liability in case of natural disasters, loss of personal belongings, damage to your health or safety.

After a 6 hour bus ride, this hostel was like an oasis. The bamboo/wood structure is stunning, the bed in the dorm was so cosy and comfortable that I stayed in it for the entire afternoon.
Remarkably clean and centrally located.
The 10 usd charge for the towel rent seems excessive. You can buy a new one for 5 from the supermarket.
10/10 for me anyway.

Superb location and very friendly staff who are more than happy to help out. Clean and quite a homely feel. Very relaxed feel to the hostel, so if you want a fun atmosphere do not stay here. Quite difficult to meet people as everyone keeps to themselves, so would not recommend for solo travellers but nonetheless we had a pleasant stay.
