Tortuga is really peaceful, friendly and the rooftop is incredible for sunset. However the atmosphere was strange when I was there - there were hardly any guests. Although most people wanted to get rest as they were diving early in the morning, there was often loud music played late into the night. The kitchen never had a functioning lighter and the hostel cats would eat your food if you turned away for a second. The WiFi rarely worked, but not sure if that was more of a taganga problem.

I spend about 8 days total at La Tortuga doing my Open Water certification and diving. The best thing about the hostel are the people. The owners an volunteers really turn it into a friendly community and that’s worth it’s weight in gold. The view from the bar is spectacular. Really hard to beat anywhere. If you want to learn to dive, I can only recommend doing it with Monica (the owner). I went from 0 experience to competent quickly with her

Favorite hostel in Colombia! Staff and guests were super friendly, great location to chill and/or meet other travellers. 100% will be returning!
