This cozy and friendly hostel is a one minute distance from the main square and close to all pubs/clubs/restaurants and supermarket.
Our staff will tell you what to visit in the city and can plan your trip throughout Romania!! We will help you with anything, from renting a car to go on one of the most beautiful roads in the world, the Transfagarasean to finding an apartment if you are studying here and want to live in this beautiful city.
We also take you on day trips around Timisoara with the car or by bikes so you get to experience the true nature of Romania!
We have a beautiful courtyard where you can relax in the hammock or play ping pong, we also do grills, play poker sometimes, or just hang out and play the guitar.
We are trying to make your stay as pleasant and as authentic as we can, and that's why we give you free shots of Palinca (traditional drink) made by our father!!
In the winter we huddle up and stay inside, where we watch movies, play on the Nintendo Wii and drink some boiled wine!
So no matter in which period you are coming, you will for sure have a great time!
Please Note:
Check in time: until 00:00
Check-out: as late as 23:00 and you can still use all the utilities(shower, common areas, etc)
We accept payment in Euros, UK Pounds, US dollars, and of course, Romanian Lei.
In case of a no show the first 2 nights will be charged

I'm sorry to give a low rate review but I think that the actual 9.2 is extremely high and creates false expectations.
Good point are the staff, very welcoming and available; location and rooms are not that dirty, quite large and have lockers.
For the rest the structure inside is old and improvised; the only inside bathroom is not that clean, shower not safe and hot water doesn't come regularly; the other bathrooms are outside and there's no heating inside; Half power sockets don't work; etc...

We came to Timisoara believing to find the usual hostel, but Freeborn Hostel is something unique. From the owner, Raul, who gave us a warm welcome and gave us tips on where and how to see the city. But the thing that pleased us most was the environment that is created, it seems to be in a big family made up of people from all over the world.
If we ever go back to Timisoara our choice will certainly be Freeborn (also because we promised Raul a bottle of 'genziana')

Definitely a must-go hostel. If you’re in Timisoara this hostel is great for you. You can stay here both if you like quiet hostels and if you like meeting new people. The staff is very nice and if you need help with anything they will definitely help you.
The best hostel I’ve ever been to, without any doubt.
